About this game
Who it is for
- This is for people who cannot find the words right away when someone speaks to them in English on the street, and who want to try replying without pressure.
- When you choose a reply, you see what the other person says next and a one-line reason for how your reply sounds. If you ask again, they say it again slowly in easier words.
- This is new. There are no user comments or numbers yet that show it helps.
What it does not do
- You can try making your own sentences and saying them aloud, but it does not judge whether your pronunciation or grammar is correct. It only compares what you said or typed with the reply buttons by how many words overlap.
- It is not meant for exam preparation or business English. There are only six scenes.
How to play, and sound
- You are out in town, and someone suddenly speaks to you in English. Choose your reply with the buttons. Who speaks to you, and where, is picked at random when you open this page. After a conversation ends, you can choose where to go next (the scene). The person is picked at random each time.
- The other person's lines and the replies you choose appear as text and audio. Audio plays when you open the page, when you press a button, and when the next scene starts (some browsers do not play it on opening). You can turn it off with the "Sound" button at the top. You can play with text only if there is no sound.
- No sign-up. Free.
- On the conversation screen, if you speak or type English in the "Reply by voice or typing" box, it is compared with the reply buttons for that turn by how many words overlap, and the closest reply is shown. Closeness is a rough guide. It does not judge whether your pronunciation or grammar is correct. The conversation moves on only when you check the reply shown and press it yourself.
How it is made, and what has not been checked
- The lines were written by AI. They have not been checked by a native English speaker.
- The notes, the name origins and the characters' personalities were also written by AI. The notes and name origins were compared with dictionaries by AI, but they have not been checked by a native English speaker or a specialist. Some names have more than one explanation of their origin. The people are fictional.
- The labels "Natural", "Gets across" and "Off track" and the one-line reasons are also written by AI as a rough guide. They are not guaranteed to be correct.
- The scenes, directions, shop layouts and dishes are made up for practice. They do not match real places.
- The voices are synthesized. They are not the voices of real people. No person has listened to check that the readings are correct.
- This is a different service from the "English learning app" that ended on July 5, 2026. Accounts and learning records from that app have not been carried over, and you cannot log in to it. For questions about the old app, please use "Contact" below.
- Replying by voice has not yet been checked with a real microphone or on a real phone. In browsers without speech recognition, the microphone button does not appear (you can still type).
What is stored
- No cookies are used. We store nothing in your browser (your browser may remember whether you allowed the microphone; you can withdraw this in the browser's settings). The server does not create a record for you as a person (no ID, name or email address). The voice you speak and the text you enter in the "Reply by voice or typing" box are not sent to our server and are not stored by us (when you use the microphone, some browsers send your voice to the company that makes the browser).
- The microphone works only when you press its button. When you press it, your browser's speech recognition turns your voice into text (in some browsers, your voice may be sent to the servers of the company that provides the browser — Google for Chrome, Apple for Safari, Microsoft for Edge — or of a speech recognition service that company uses; whether it is sent, where it goes and how it is handled depend on your browser, its settings and that company's terms). Neither your voice nor the text you enter is sent to our server. You can also play without the microphone, by typing or by choosing a button. If you are under 18, please read this explanation with a parent or guardian before using the microphone.
- The server keeps daily totals of how many conversations started, how many times someone asked again, and how many reached the end, counted by screen language, scene and partner. They cannot be linked to any person. In addition, ordinary access logs (date and time, IP address, browser information and the URL of the page) are kept, as with our other services. In this game, the partner, the scene, the sequence of replies you chose, whether you hid the notes, the same three items for the conversation just before, and whether you opened the review are part of the URL, so they also appear in those logs.
